How to Write a Descriptive Paragraph

Descriptive paragraphs let the reader touch, taste, see, hear and smell what you are describing. The reader should feel as if they can see what you are describing clearly. You want to paint a picture as you write the descriptive paragraph. Here are a few guidelines to help you write a great descriptive paragraph

Step1
Describe particular smells and tastes in the paragraph. Use the most descriptive words possible to allow the reader to smell or taste what you are describing. For example: "The homemade cookies filled the air with the scent of warm chocolate, and the chocolate morsels filled your mouth with the taste of cocoa."

Step2
Add the senses of touch and hearing to your paragraph wherever possible. Describe certain textures and sounds. For example: "The silk garment felt smooth and fluid over my skin, and it had the sound of a gentle breeze."

Step3
Use similes and metaphors when you write your descriptive paragraph. These literary devices strengthen your paragraph if used properly.

Step4
Insert descriptive adjectives to modify your nouns. Don't just say "blue ocean." Describe the actual colors you see in the ocean. Use more descriptive words such as aquamarine or indigo to describe the shade.

Step5
Try personification to give human characteristics to inanimate objects. For example: "The tree stood proudly with her arms stretching toward the sky."

Step6
Be sure to make your paragraph long enough to give an adequate description. Describe the scene or object in as many ways as you can, but check that your paragraph is coherent.

Towering trees surround the sides of my tree fort. Forest sounds sing me to sleep when I stay the night in my favorite place. Occasionally, when the moon is out, I hear the movement of animals in the brush. In a flash I'm awake and sitting up. When the noise ceases, I can sleep again. The only time I can't go back to sleep is when the coyotes laugh at me from the hills behind our property. Laughing coyotes can make any kid's mind play tricks.

this is about cars, we know them, we love them. Although as a teenager, you don't always consider the responsibilities needed to keep a car well maintained. My first car was a '91 Mazda RX-7 with a convertible top. When I bought the car, all I cared about was how fast I could go and the fact that it was a convertible. However, I didn't consider that if I raced around, it would put a lot of wear and tear on my car. Eventually, my clutch began to slip, and my engine started to overheat. I replaced the clutch, and then continued to drive my car, even though the engine would still overheat

He is a young man in his early twenties. He is cute. He has fair skin, sharp pointed nose, slanted eyes, and long black straight hair. He is about 170 cm tall. He is thin. He is calm, a bit mysterious but actually he is a nice young man. He is good at drawing and photography. He likes traveling as well. He speaks Korean and English. Although he is not here anymore, he is one of good things happened in my life.
